Hays County Courthouse, TX – Hays County Local Health Department (HCLHD) reports one COVID-related fatality, a Kyle man in his 70s. The department also reports five (5) new lab-confirmed cases* along with two (2) new hospitalizations and one (1) new hospital discharge.
There are 53 additional persons considered recovered. The total number of persons considered recovered is 16,164.
The current total of lab-confirmed cases for Hays County since the beginning of the pandemic is 16,789. Hays County has 392 active cases.
In the past 21 days there have been 673 active cases. Hays County has had 770 total COVID-related hospitalizations and seven (7) county residents are currently hospitalized.
HCLHD officials continue to urge individuals and families who socialize and/or travel during spring break to follow the best practices for health and safety protocols: regular vigorous hand washing, social distancing, wearing face masks and avoiding large crowds of people.
“We know this virus spreads rapidly among groups of people who spend time together,” Epidemiologist Ian Harris said. “That’s why we encourage everyone to avoid large crowds, which includes bars, parties and the beach.”
*The HCLHD did not receive any test results from Curative today, which may contribute to the number of new cases being low.
