Hays County Courthouse, TX – Hays County Local Health Department (HCLHD) reports one COVID-related fatality, a San Marcos woman in her 70s. The department also reports 67 new lab-confirmed cases* along with no new hospitalizations and one (1) new hospital discharge.
There are 35 additional persons considered recovered. The total number of persons considered recovered is 16,199.
The current total of lab-confirmed cases for Hays County since the beginning of the pandemic is 16,856. Hays County has 423 active cases. In the past 21 days, there have been 678 active cases. Hays County has had 770 total COVID-related hospitalizations and six (6) people are currently hospitalized.
With many individuals and families traveling during spring break, HCLHD officials continue to everyone to continue following COVID-19 health and safety protocols such as regular vigorous hand washing, social distancing, wearing face masks, and avoiding large crowds of people.
“COVID-19 spreads most easily when large groups of people spend time together,” Epidemiologist Eric Schneider said. “By avoiding large crowds at locations like bars, parties, and the beach, we can continue to keep our case count low.”
