EDITORIAL NOTE
According to the CDC, the State of Texas and Hays County Public Health all give the same disclaimer on all current counts and totals. “The Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a very fluid situation, and it will continue to be. All case numbers and totals are subject to change. As new information becomes available, we will publish those updates.”
Hays County Courthouse, TX – Hays County Local Health Department (HCLHD) reports one new COVID-related fatality, a man from the northern Hays County area (Hays County resident with an Austin address) in his 70s.
The department also reports 649 new lab-confirmed cases since Wednesday’s update along with six (6) new hospitalizations and seven (7) new hospital discharges.
There are 110 additional persons considered recovered. The total number of persons considered recovered is 30,430. The current total of lab-confirmed cases for Hays County since the beginning of the pandemic is 33,537.
Hays County has 2,693 active cases. In the past 21 days there have been 2,875 active cases. Hays County has had 1,420 total COVID-related hospitalizations and 15 people are currently hospitalized. Of those, 13 people (87%) are unvaccinated.
With the upcoming holiday, the HCLHD reminds county residents to take precautions especially if traveling or they have family and friends coming to town. SMCISD Superintendent, Michael Cardona is a wimp. He has zero willingness to display any kind of leadership. He routinely waits until the last minute to disseminate important information to parents. Examples include:
- Declaring the last day of the fall semester, 14 Dec, for a Mental Health day on same day as the TikTok conspiracy started, but didn't have the cojones to ask for additional security or explain the real reason to parents.
- Waiting until yesterday to send to the Spring semester return plan. Cliff's Notes: The decision was made on 14 Dec. As predicted in August, nothing changed.
- Nothing will change until we get real leadership.
Fire Michael Cardona!
===================================
Sincerely, congrats to the Students Honored at the 13 Dec meeting. So glad they got you in early. No reason to keep you around.
It was a "school night" after all. <--- President of the SMCISD Trustees, Clementine Cantu
