Hays County Seeks Input On Rail Relocation Project

Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX – Hays County residents can now take part in a virtual Town Hall regarding the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) Grade Separation Improvement Project, which will relocate UPRR’s siding track from downtown Kyle to Kohlers Crossing near the ACC campus.

This 2016 voter-approved bond project will improve overall safety and alleviate the traffic delays on Center Street.

The Virtual Town Hall runs through July 26 and consists of a welcome video by Hays County Commissioner Mark Jones, Pct. 2, along with exhibits and an opportunity for the public to provide input.

“As our region has grown so rapidly, so has the traffic at the railroad crossing on Center Street in Kyle. Moving the siding track to a new, safer location will greatly improve mobility, traffic flow and emergency response,” he said.

Jones tells viewers in the welcome video he wants to hear feedback on the project from residents, business owners, and other local stakeholders.

“Just five or ten minutes of your time can help us determine the future of Kyle and the broader community,” he said. “We want to hear from everyone who has an interest in these roadway improvements.”
