Due to active shooting events that have occurred recently throughout the State of Texas and our nation, many places of worship, local businesses and citizens are asking law enforcement for guidance and training on how to be better prepared should an active shooter event occur.
The Hays County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with Precinct 4 Constable Ron Hood’s office, held a successful presentation on a Civilian Response to Active Shooter Event (CRASE) training that was held at the Dripping Springs High School on December 14th. Approximately 150 people attended this informative class. Shortly after, several churches throughout Hays County called to inquire about hosting the same presentation.

The presentation will be made by Hays County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant David Burns, a former U.S. Army paratrooper and a veteran law enforcement officer and instructor with over twenty-five-years’ experience. Lieutenant Burns is also one of the founding members of ALERRT (Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training) and has taught extensively throughout the country on how to respond to an active shooter crisis. This session is open to the public and everyone interested is invited to attend.
