Hays County Sheriff’s Office Arrest Suspect In Late Night Homicide

Upon arrival, deputies observed a female administering CPR on a Hispanic male who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

On November 14, 2018, at 11:23 p.m. Hays County Deputies were dispatched to the 500 block of Cody Ln. in Kyle on an Aggravated Assault involving a gun.

While en route to the scene deputies were informed that a male had been shot, was unconscious and not breathing.

Upon arrival, deputies observed a female administering CPR on a Hispanic male who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

The Hispanic male was transported by EMS to a local hospital and later succumbed to his wounds. The suspected assailant was on scene and detained by deputies.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting occurred over a narcotics transaction. Both the deceased and suspect have extensive criminal histories.

The deceased male was identified as:

Sergio Rodriguez-Arevalo from Kyle, TX, Hispanic/Male, Date of Birth 12/02/1995

The suspect has been identified as:

Francisco Antonio Cardona from Kyle, TX, Hispanic/Male, Date of Birth 05/24/1998

Cardona was subsequently arrested and is incarcerated in the Hays County Jail on:

Murder, Felony 1

No other information is available at this time as the investigation is still being conducted.
