Hays County Sheriff’s Office investigates Possible Active Shooter Reports

On Thursday, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a possible active shooter in the area of Hwy 290 and Sawyer Ranch Road in Dripping Springs.

According to officials, area schools implemented lock-down procedures as a precaution.

The Hays County Sheriff’s Office investigated and found all four reports to be “totally false.”

Officials said there was no evidence of an active shooter.

The Hays County Sheriff’s Office urged the public to use extreme caution before posting anything “of this nature on social media without verifying the information through law enforcement.”
