UPDATE 7:00 PM: On August 20, 2020, at approximately 4:40 PM, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Wimberley Exxon located in the 14000 block of Ranch Road 12 in Wimberley, Texas, for a possible suicidal subject.
Information was later received that the suspect had stolen a vehicle and was heading north on Ranch Road 12 towards Dripping Springs.
Hays County deputies and the Department of Public Safety caught up with the vehicle, and a vehicle pursuit was initiated.
The vehicle turned east on FM 150. The vehicle was stopped by a pursuit immobilization technique. Once the vehicle was stopped, the suspect began firing at the deputies and the trooper.
The officers returned fire and struck the suspect.
The suspect was transported to a local area hospital. A deputy suffered non-life-threatening injuries, not resulting from a gunshot, and was also transported to a local hospital.
The names of the involved parties are not being released at this time. A joint investigation will be conducted by the Texas Rangers of the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Hays County Sheriff’s Office.
Hays County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a law enforcement operation in the area of Joe Wimberley Blvd off RR 12.
Residents are asked to avoid the area.
According to officials, there is an armed subject in the area: A white male wearing a black hat, gray shirt, and blue jean shorts.
Anyone living in the area is asked to stay inside and lock their doors until further notice.
Residents should call 911 if they see anything suspicious in this area.

rumors of one officer shot, one suspect shot and or killed
just that the suspect is "no longer in the area"
maybe he never was in the area.
