San Marcos, TX – The Hays County Democratic Party will hold a food drive competition among its various clubs to benefit the Hays County Food Bank and will run from May 14 to June 14.
Last summer, the Hays County Food Bank experienced a shortage of food that many citizens depend on, especially during summer months.
An average of 2,500-3,000 pounds of “shelf-stable” foods like soups, peanut butter, rice, beans, tuna and pasta are distributed each week as well as an additional 6,000 pounds of fresh produce.
Hays County Democratic Party Chair Donna Haschke said, “We want to do our part to make sure no families, no children go hungry in our community. Let’s all donate to fill the pantries at the Food Bank.”
