Hays School District Seeks Name For Middle School #6

The Hays Consolidated Independent School District School Naming Committee is seeking nominations for names for the district’s sixth middle school. The school, which was approved by voters in the 2014 bond, is on scheduled to open next year. People who wish to submit name suggestions may do so electronically at: www.hayscisd.net/name, or by writing to the district at: Hays CISD Naming Hays CISD Naming Committee, 21003 IH 35, Kyle, TX 78640. Printable forms are also available on the district’s website.

The Hays CISD Board of Trustees ultimately selects the names of new schools. The Board makes its selection based on recommendations from a naming committee appointed by the Board.

New schools in Hays CISD can be named for: historical or geographical sites or communities; subdivisions; significant local, state, or national figures (living or deceased); people who have made significant contributions to education in the district (living or deceased); local, state, or national historical events or places; or people who have donated land or money for the property or facility.

The naming nomination period is open until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2015. The naming committee will meet the following week to narrow options. The committee could suggest a new name or slate of possible names to the Board of Trustees as early as its workshop meeting in November. The Board could then choose a final name for the school in December.

View complete information about the naming process, see the committee member list, and make a suggestion at www.hayscisd.net/name.
