Hays County Courthouse, TX – Hays County Local Health Department (HCLHD) reports 26 new lab-confirmed cases along with one (1) new hospitalization and five (5) new hospital discharges. There are 75 additional persons considered recovered. The total number of persons considered recovered is 16,111.
The current total of lab-confirmed cases for Hays County since the beginning of the pandemic is 16,784. Hays County has 441 active cases.
In the past 21 days there have been 752 active cases. Hays County has had 768 total COVID-related hospitalizations and six (6) people are currently hospitalized.
Officials from HCLHD urge individuals and families who choose to socialize and/or travel during spring break to continue following best practices for health and safety protocols, including regular vigorous hand washing, social distancing, and wearing face masks, while also avoiding large crowds of people.
“Transmission of the virus is more likely among groups of people who spend time together, such as at parties, on the beach, and in bars and restaurants,” Epidemiologist Eric Schneider said. “While the vaccine is important, it’s still critical that individuals do whatever they can to protect themselves and their communities.”
