Health Code Open Houses Slated For February

The purpose of these meetings is to gather input from stakeholders and the community regarding the upcoming update to Chapter 18 of City Ordinance pertaining to Food Establishments.

The City of San Marcos will host a series of open houses covering upcoming changes in the City’s adopted Health Code to align with state statute and rules pertaining to food establishments. The meetings will be held in Room 3 of the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins.

On October 11, 2015, the Texas Department of State Health Services enacted new rules for food establishments. As a result, the City will be adopting updated rules and guidelines to its local ordinances pertaining to food establishments following consideration by City Council later in 2018. To review the changes to the rules online, visit www.sanmarcostx.gov/restaurantrules.  Currently, the City operates under the adopted 2006 Texas Food Establishment Rules.
