On the heels of announcing a $1.2 million investment to Feeding Texas, HEB will deliver a trailer of food to the Central Texas Food Bank to continue supporting communities during this time.
In total, HEB will deliver 15 truckloads of food and household supplies to the various food banks around the state. HEB works directly with food banks that are affiliated with Feeding Texas, a member of Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief organization.
With this gift, HEB is working in tandem with Texas food banks to provide relief to some of our most vulnerable neighbors: children, seniors, and low-income families.
As schools are closed, events canceled, and work hours curtailed, food banks will start to see a rise in demand for resources.
HEB’s Hunger Relief Program works all year to raise awareness and battle hunger in Texas and Mexico. Last year, the program donated 32 million pounds of food to families in need, which come to approximately 25 million meals.
HEB started helping to feed Texas communities in 1982 and has since donated more than 1 billion pounds of food to 5,500 non-profit organizations.
