Austin, TX – The Home Builders Association of Greater Austin (HBA) has been recognized for its outstanding advocacy efforts with an Award of Excellence from the Executive Officers Council (EOC) of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
The initiative was a joint effort between the City of Austin and the HBA to identify ways to improve efficiency in the development process.
The successful effort was described as “collaborative, with good recommendations coming from both stakeholders and staff,” by Scott Turner, Owner of Riverside Homes and President of the HBA Infill Builders Council.
“The partnership between the HBA and the Development Services Department (DSD) reflects the department’s continued efforts toward specific process improvements,” said J. Rodney Gonzales, Austin Assistant City Manager. “This was a collaborative effort that identified win-win efficiencies which then lead to improved customer service experiences.”
“Building in Austin isn’t easy. The efficiency discussions with DSD over the last 18 months has enabled us to set the groundwork for future collaborations with other departments as well as bring to light challenges in process that have huge impacts on our industry, said Felicia Foster, Owner of Barron Custom Homes. “The HBA has been instrumental in not only coordinating the efforts but also getting the information back out to our membership when there is a process change. We are building a better Austin together!”
The Association Excellence Awards is an annual program designed to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of state and local home builders’ associations and executive officers in the field of association management.
EOC membership is comprised of the staff executives who direct more than 650 NAHB-affiliated state and local home builders’ associations representing more than 140,000 home builders in communities across the United States.
“This national award recognizes that when we have the opportunity to work collaboratively with our local cities and counties to provide housing for central Texas families, great things can be accomplished,” states Carrie L. Ciliberto, Esq., CEO of HBA.
The winning entries will be added to a searchable directory of AEA winning entries so that other executives and associations across the country can access and learn from them in order to provide better service to their own members and community.
