Hopkins will be closed from N. Johnson Street to Travis Street from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily July 9 – 20 to allow City electric crews to replace utility poles in preparation for the Hopkins Street Improvements between Bishop and Moore Streets, scheduled to begin in the fall of 2019.
In addition, Mitchell Avenue will be closed from Hopkins to San Antonio Street as crews install an underground vault for electrical transmission equipment near the intersection.
Project
The Hopkins Street Improvements from Bishop to Moore Streets will replace existing water and wastewater infrastructure, add a drainage system to improve storm water runoff, and reconstruct the street with curbs and sidewalks.
A public meeting is scheduled July 24 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Dunbar Recreation Center, 801 W. MLK, to give an overall project update and allow residents to view the proposed improvements.
