Commissioner Ingalsbe, Precinct 1 and Commissioner Conley, Precinct 3 Invite You to Attend an Open House

Project Details

Hays County and the Texas Department of Transportation in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration are considering modifications to the I?35 and Posey Road intersection. Changes may include removing the existing Posey Road Bridge and reconstructing I?35 over Posey Road along with six ramp reversals, conversion of two?way frontage roads, and adjustments to not preclude a Future Transportation Corridor on I?35. Project Details

Posey Road Intersection with I?35

Modifications to the I?35 and Posey Road intersection are proposed to include removing the existing Posey Road Bridge and reconstructing I?35 over Posey Road.

Six Ramp Reversals

The project will also consider reversing ramps (changing entrance ramps to exit ramps, and exit ramps to entrance ramps) in the following locations:

  • SB Entrance ramp between Center Point Road and Posey Road
  • SB Exit ramp between Center Point and Posey Road
  • SB Entrance ramp between Posey Road and York Creek Road (FM 1102)
  • SB Exit ramp between Posey Road and York Creek Road (FM 1102)
  • NB Exit ramp between Posey Road and York Creek Road (FM 1102)
  • NB Entrance ramp between Posey Road and York Creek Road (FM 1102)

Conversion of Two?Way Frontage Roads

At the start of the Posey Road project construction, the frontage roads south of Posey will be converted to one?way traffic operations, southbound only on the west side of I?35 and northbound only on the east side of I?35.

Modifications to Accommodate a Future Transportation Corridor (FTC)

The project will make adjustments to the I?35 mainlanes that will not preclude a FTC anticipated to consist of a proposed additional lane in each direction of I?35 from Hays County heading north, through Travis and Williamson counties. The FTC would be assessed for environmental impacts in the future and is not a part of the Posey Road project. However, adjustments are being made so that if the project moves forward it would not preclude an additional lane in each direction. This concept is being studied as part of the TxDOT?led Mobility35 project. More information on the FTC can be found here:  http://mobility35.org/proposedconcepts/ftc.aspx

Schedule:

Early 2015 – Development of a schematic for the project with updated elements Early 2015 ? Second Open House held to share project information

Spring and summer 2015 – Environmental documentation  Fall 2015 – Public Hearing to consider final approval of project Winter 2015/2016 – Final environmental decision
