While construction is tough on everyone, TxDOT is trying to do
everything they can to minimize disruptions.

I-35 CORRIDOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

MONDAY 10/22 – FRIDAY 10/26

I-35 CORRIDOR MAINTENANCE CLOSURES

PROJECT OVERVIEW | These lane closures are associated with on going maintenance activities throughout the corridor.

• THIS WEEK’S PROJECT TRAFFIC ADVISORY •

Closures are weather permitting

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane between FM 2001 and Robert S. Light Blvd. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, October 21 through Monday, October 22

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane between Kohlers Crossing and FM 1626. | 9 PM until 5 AM Monday, October 22 through Tuesday, October 23

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between William Cannon Dr and Stassney Ln. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, October 21 through Monday, October 22

 

  • Northbound I-35 right lane closed between Slaughter Ln and the William Cannon Dr exit. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, October 21 through Thursday, October 25

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Boggy Creek Dr and William Cannon Dr. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, October 22 through Friday, October 26

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed at William Cannon Dr. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, October 21 through Monday, October 22

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane between William Cannon Dr and the Slaughter Creek overpass. | 9 PM until 5 AM Tuesday, October 23 through Wednesday, October 24

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed at Stassney Ln. | 9 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, October 24 through Thursday, October 25

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Stassney Ln and William Cannon Dr. | 9 AM until 3 PM Wednesday, October 24

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between William Cannon Dr and Nelms Dr. | 9 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, October 24 through Thursday, October 25 and from 9 AM until 3 PM Thursday, October 25

I-35 AT OLTORF ST.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, constructing new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

Closures are weather permitting

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Woodward St and Royal Hill Dr. Watch for flaggers. | 8 AM until 5 PM Monday, October 22 through Friday, October 26

 

  • I-35 closed in both directions between Oltorf St and Woodland Ave. Use the frontage roads. | 11:45 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, October 24

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane between Woodland Ave exit (#232) and the following entrance ramp. | 10 PM until 5 AM Thursday, October 25

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LN. TO US 290 EAST

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main-lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

Closures are weather permitting

  • Powell Ln closed at southbound I-35. Use Wonsley Dr. | Through winter 2018

 

  • Clock Tower Dr closed at northbound US 183. | Through winter 2018

 

  • Carver Ave closed at southbound US 183. | Through winter 2018

 

  • Northbound I-35 exit for Rundberg Ln (#241) closed and I-35 frontage road left lane closed between US 183 and Little Walnut Creek. The south to northbound U-turn at US 183 will also be closed. Frontage road shifts to new lanes, weather permitting. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, October 21 through Thursday, October 25

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road closed at Huntland Dr. Use Huntland Dr and US 290 E/Koenig Ln. | 11 PM until 5 AM Thursday, October 25 through Friday, October 26

 

  • Southbound US 183 closed near I-35 traffic will detour to the frontage road. | 11 PM until 5 AM Thursday, October 25

I-35 AT FM 3406

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge. | Until summer 2018, weather permitting.

  • Northbound I-35 reduced to one lane under FM 3406. | 9 PM until 5 AM Tuesday, October 23 through Thursday, October 25

 

  • Various northbound I-35 frontage road closures at FM 3406. | 9 PM until 5 PM Wednesday, October 24 through Thursday, October 25

 

  • Various westbound FM 3406 closures between I-35 and Chisholm Trail Rd. | 9 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, October 24 through Thursday, October 25

I-35 FROM US 79 TO SH 45 NORTH

PROJECT ACTIVITY | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hesters Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

The northbound and southbound intersections of US 79 and the I-35 frontage roads are also being reconstructed to add a third left-turn for westbound US 79.

Closures are weather permitting

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed at SH 45/Louis Henna Blvd. The U-turn will also close. | 8 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, October 17 and Thursday, October 18
