While construction is tough on everyone, TxDOT is trying to do
everything they can to minimize disruptions.

I-35 CORRIDOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

MONDAY 10/29 – FRIDAY 11/3

I-35 CORRIDOR MAINTENANCE CLOSURES

PROJECT OVERVIEW | These lane closures are associated with on going maintenance activities throughout the corridor.

• THIS WEEK’S PROJECT TRAFFIC ADVISORY •

Closures are weather permitting

  • Southbound I-35 Airport Blvd. (exit #237) closed. | 8 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, October 31

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Reinli St. and 46th St. including bypass lanes. | 8 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, October 31

 

  • Alternating southbound I-35 single lane closures between US 290 East and Airport Blvd. Expect delays and use caution. | 8 PM until 5 AM Wednesday and Thursday nights

 

  • Reduced to one northbound I-35 lane and one southbound lane between Holly St. and Manor Rd. due to paving. Ramps will be closed as needed. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday through Thursday night

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

  • Northbound I-35 right lane closed after the William Cannon Dr. exit ramp. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, October 28 through Tuesday, October 30

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between William Cannon Dr. and Nelms Dr. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday October 28 through Thursday, November 1

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed at Stassney Ln. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday October 28 through Thursday, November 1

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed at William Cannon Dr. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, October 29 through Friday, November 2

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Boggy Creek Dr. and William Cannon Dr. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday October 29 through Friday, November 2

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced lane between William Cannon Dr. and Slaughter Ln. | 9 PM until 5 AM Tuesday, October 30

 

  • Alternating southbound I-35 frontage road closures between Battle Bend Blvd. and Williamson Creek. | 9 AM until 3 PM Wednesday, October 31 through Friday, November 2

 

  • Northbound I-35 reduced to one lane approaching William Cannon Dr. | 10 PM until 5 AM Monday October 29

 

  • Alternating northbound I-35 frontage road closures between Stassney Ln. and Williamson Creek. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, October 29 through Wednesday, October 31

I-35 AT OLTORF ST.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, constructing new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

  • North and southbound I-35 reduced to one lane between Woodward Ave. exit #232 and the following entrance ramp. | 10 PM until 6 AM Sunday, October 28

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed approaching William Cannon Dr. | 9 AM until 3 PM Saturday, October 27 and Monday, October 29

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed after Woodland Ave. to the next entrance ramp. | 8 PM until 5 AM Sunday, October 28

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed by flaggers between Royal Hill Dr. and next entrance ramp. | 8 AM until 5 PM Monday, October 29 through Friday, November 2

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between SH 71 and Woodward St. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, October 29 through Friday, November 2

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed approaching Oltorf St. | 8 PM until 5 AM Monday, October 29

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LN. TO US 290 EAST

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main-lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

  • Clock Tower Dr. closed at northbound US 183. | Through winter 2018

 

  • Carver Ave. closed at southbound US 183. |Through winter 2018

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road closed at Huntland Dr. Use Huntland Dr. and US 290 E/RM 2222. | 11 PM until 5 AM Thursday, October 25 through Friday, October 26

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between La Posada Dr. and E St Johns Ave. | 7 AM until 7 PM, Saturday, October 27 and Sunday, October 28

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Norwood Park Dr. and Fenelon Dr. | 9 AM until 3 PM on Saturday, October 27

 

  • I-35 frontage road left lane closed between US 183 and Little Walnut Creek. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, October 28

 

  • South to northbound turnaround at US 183 closed. Frontage road shifts to new lanes. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, October 28 through Thursday, November 1

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road closed at Huntland Dr. Detour to Middle Fiskville Rd. | midnight until 5 AM Tuesday, October 29

 

  • Southbound US 183 closed at I-35. Traffic will detour to the frontage road and re-enter I-35 before Cameron Rd. | 11 PM until 5 AM Monday, October 29

I-35 AT FM 3406

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge. | Until summer 2018, weather permitting.

  • I-35 reduced to one lane in each direction at FM 3406. Northbound closure is Wednesday and Thursday night only. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, October 28 through Thursday, November 1

 

  • Various southbound I-35 frontage road closures at FM 3406. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, October 28 through Thursday, November 1

 

  • Various closures in each direction FM 3406 across I-35. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday October 28 through Thursday, November 1

I-35 FROM US 79 TO SH 45 NORTH

PROJECT ACTIVITY | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hesters Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

The northbound and southbound intersections of US 79 and the I-35 frontage roads are also being reconstructed to add a third left-turn for westbound US 79.
