The northbound McCarty Lane exit ramp and southbound Center Point Road exit ramp will be closed on Saturday, Aug. 6 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. to accommodate increased traffic at the outlet malls during Tax-Free Weekend.
Dynamic signs on the interstate will notify motorists of the closed exit ramps.
This year the newly constructed Center Point traffic signal with countdown pedestrian signals and audible push buttons will make it safer and easier for visitors to cross between the two outlet malls.
The purpose of these ramp closures is to prevent traffic from backing onto the IH-35 main lanes. Before the City began this Tax-Free Weekend traffic control plan 10 years ago, traffic would back up on IH-35 and create serious mobility issues.
