I-35 McCarty Lane Ramp to close during Tax Free Weekend

Staff Reports

SAN MARCOS — On Saturday, August 7, the City of San Marcos and contracted crews will establish traffic controls to ease congestion near the San Marcos Premium Outlets. The efforts will accommodate an expected increase in traffic due to Texas’ annual Tax-Free weekend.

The northbound I-35 exit ramp at McCarty Lane, exit 201, will be closed between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2021

Transportation crews will shut down the northbound I-35 exit ramp at McCarty Lane, exit 201, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

The closure aims to prevent conflicts between traffic exiting I-35 and drivers exiting from the shopping area.

Motorists should use the northbound I-35 exit ramp at Centerpoint Road, exit 200, to access the San Marcos Premium Outlets.

Tax-Free weekend begins Friday, August 6, and continues through Sunday, August 8.

The sales tax exemption applies to qualifying items including the purchase of most clothing, footwear, and school supplies.

For more information about the I-35 ramp closure, contact the San Marcos Public Services Department, Transportation Division at 512.393.8036.
