I-35, Posey Road Closures, Detours, Traffic Alerts To Know Before You Start Your Weekly Commute

TxDOT knows you’ve got to get where you need to go.

While construction is tough on everyone, TxDOT is trying to do
everything they can to minimize disruptions.

Closures, Detours, Traffic Alerts

for Week of February 16 – 27

 

I-35 AT POSEY ROAD

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project will construct a new overpass on I-35 over Posey Road, add two new U-turns in each direction at Posey Road, perform ramp reversals and convert two-way frontage roads to one-way. Currently, the I-35 mainlanes go under Posey Road. The new configuration will have the I-35 mainlanes going over Posey Road.

HAPPENING NOW- FEBRUARY 2019: PHASE 1

  • Closing Posey Road bridge over I-35

 

  • Reversing northbound I-35 ramps

 

  • Implementing traffic detours

 

  • Demolishing the existing Posey Road bridge over I-35

 

  • Converting two-way frontage roads to one-way

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane between Slaughter Ln and Slaughter Creek Overpass | 10 PM until 5 AM Monday, February 18 through Tuesday, February 19

 

  • Various southbound I-35 and southbound I-35 frontage road closures between William Cannon Dr and Slaughter Ln. Exit #227 will also be closed. | 10 PM until 5 AM Sunday, February 17 through Monday, February 18

 

  • Westbound William Cannon Dr right turn lane closed at I-35 | Through winter 2019

 

  • Various northbound I-35 frontage road closures between William Cannon Dr and Stassney Ln | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, February 18 through Friday, February 22

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between William Cannon Dr and Boggy Creek Dr | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, February 18 through Friday, February 22

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road closed between William Cannon Dr and Foremost Dr | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, February 18 through Friday, February 22

 

  • Westbound William Cannon Dr right turn lane closed at I-35 | Until March 1

I-35 AT OLTORF ST.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, constructing new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

  • Various southbound I-35 frontage road closed between Woodland Ave and Algarita Ave. Watch for flaggers | 9 AM until 3 PM Saturday, February 16 and from 8 PM until 3 AM Sunday, February 17

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane between St. Edwards Dr and Woodward St | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, February 18 through Friday, February 22

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LN. TO US 290 EAST

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main-lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

  • St. Johns Ave reduced to one lane in each direction at I-35 | Until further notice

 

  • Southbound I-35 U-turn closed at US 183 | 6 AM until noon Saturday, February 16

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Camino La Costa and St. Johns Ave | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, February 17 through Thursday, February 21

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between St. Johns Ave and US 183 | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, February 17 through Thursday, February 21

 

  • Southbound I-35 exit #240 for US 183 will be closed. Use exit #241 for Rundberg Ln | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, February 17 through Thursday, February 21

 

  • Norwood Park Blvd closed at I-35. Use Rutherford Ln. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, February 17 through Saturday, February 23

I-35 AT FM 3406

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge. | Until summer 2018, weather permitting.

  • Eastbound FM 3406 left lane closed between Chisholm Trail and I-35 | 10 AM until 2 PM Monday, February 18 through Friday, February 22

I-35 FROM US 79 TO SH 45 NORTH

PROJECT ACTIVITY | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hesters Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

I-35 AT COUNTY ROAD 305

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the County Road 305 bridge and realign County Road 304 East to connect to the newly constructed bridge. Pedestrian enhancements will also be made within the project limits
