I-35 Weekly Closures & Detour Alerts

TxDOT knows you’ve got to get where you need to go.

While construction is tough on everyone, TxDOT is trying to do
everything they can to minimize disruptions.

for January 25 – 31

I-35 AT POSEY ROAD

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project will construct a new overpass on I-35 over Posey Road, add two new U-turns in each direction at Posey Road, perform ramp reversals and convert two-way frontage roads to one-way.

Currently, the I-35 mainlanes go under Posey Road. The new configuration will have the I-35 mainlanes going over Posey Road.

Closures are weather permitting

  • Posey Road bridge closed at I-35.
    • Until further notice
  • Northbound I-35 exit #199 for Posey Road and exit #200 for Centerpoint Road are closed.
    • Until further notice

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

PROJECT OVERVIEW |The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 main lanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

  • East and westbound Stassney Lane left lane closed daily at I-35.
      • Thursday, Jan. 23 through Friday, Jan. 24 from 9 AM until 3 PM
  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed daily at Corral Lane.
      • Friday, Jan. 24 through Monday, Jan. 27 from 9 AM until 3 PM
  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed at Stassney Lane.
      • Saturday, Jan. 25 from 7 AM until 5 PM
  • North to southbound I-35 U-turn closed at Stassney Lane.
      • Saturday, Jan. 25 from 7 AM until 5 PM
  • North to southbound I-35 U-turn closed daily at Stassney Lane. Road bridge closed at I-35.
      • Monday, Jan. 27 through Wednesday, Jan. 29 from 9 AM until 3 PM

I-35 AT OLTORF ST.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads.

Additionally, construction of new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

Closures are weather permitting

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed from Woodward Street to Oltorf Street.
      • Until further notice
  • Northbound I-35 right lane closed from Oltorf Street to Woodland Avenue. The Oltorf Street entrance ramp and Woodland Avenue exit ramp will also be closed.
      • Monday, Jan. 27 from 10 PM until 5 AM
  • Southbound I-35 left two lanes closed from Woodland Avenue to Woodward Street exit ramp.
      • Monday, Jan. 27 from 11 PM until 6 AM
  • Southbound I-35 right lane closed from Oltorf Street to Woodward Street. The Woodward Street exit ramp will also be closed.
      • Tuesday, Jan. 28 from 10 PM until 6 AM
  • Northbound I-35 left two lanes closed from Oltorf Street entrance ramp to Woodland Avenue.
      • Tuesday, Jan. 28 from 10 PM until 5 AM

I-35 FROM 1431 TO FM 3406 (NORTHBOUND)

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge.

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane from Jeffrey Way to RM 1431.
      • Through late 2020

I-35 FROM US 79 TO SH 45 NORTH

PROJECT ACTIVITY | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hesters Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

I-35 AT PARMER LANE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Reduced congestion, improved mobility at Parmer Lane and Lamar Boulevard, operational efficiency, more reliable travel times, lower fuel consumption. The start date is summer 2019 and is scheduled to be completed summer of 2021. The construction costs are estimated to be $24.6 million.

THIS WEEK’S PROJECT TRAFFIC ADVISORY

Closures are weather permitting

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road and entrance ramp closed from Parmer Lane to Yager Lane. There will be one rolling closure on the southbound I-35 mainlanes at Parmer Lane.
      • Monday, Jan. 27 from 11 PM until 5 AM
