everything they can to minimize disruptions.

I-35 LANE CLOSURES

FRIDAY 5/5 – FRIDAY 5/11

**FULL I-35 MAINLANE CLOSURES AT
OLTORF ST. AND WILLIAM CANNON**



OLTORF STREET

SPECIAL PROJECT OVERVIEW | Crews will temporarily close I-35 mainlanes at Oltorf Street and William Cannon Drive to allow crews and cranes to lift and place beams for the new U-turn Bridge at Oltorf Street, as well as place beams for the north side of the William Cannon Drive Bridge.

Northbound I-35 mainlanes at the Oltorf Street exit will be closed on Wednesday, May 9, from 10 PM to 5 AM and the southbound lanes of I-35 will be closed on Thursday, May 10, from 10 PM to 5 AM, weather permitting.

During the closures, I-35 mainlane traffic will be detoured to the frontage roads at Oltorf Street. Frontage roads will be reduced to one lane during the closure, and delays are expected. The Oltorf Street Bridge will be closed both nights beginning at 9 PM, and drivers will be detoured south to Woodward Street, or north to Woodland Avenue.



WILLIAM CANNON

SPECIAL PROJECT OVERVIEW | Northbound I-35 mainlanes at the William Cannon Drive exit will be closed on Friday, May 11, from 11 PM to 9 AM, and southbound I-35 mainlanes will be closed on Saturday, May 12, from 11 PM to 10 AM, weather permitting.

During the closures, I-35 mainlane traffic will be detoured to the frontage roads at William Cannon Drive.

The William Cannon Drive Bridge will be closed both nights beginning at 9 PM, and traffic will be detoured south to Slaughter Lane or north to Stassney Lane.

 

 



I-35 TO FM 3406

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

Closures are weather permitting

 

  • The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge. | Until Summer 2018

I-35 AT OLTORF ST.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, constructing new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

  • Northbound I-35 fully closed at Oltorf St. | From 10 PM until 5 AM, Wednesday, May 9

 

  • Southbound I-35 fully closed at Oltorf St. | From 10 PM until 5 AM Thursday, May 10

 

  • Southbound I-35 left lane closed between Algarita Ave. & the Woodward St. exit #231. | From 9 PM until 5 AM Monday, May 7 through Tuesday, May 8

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to left lane between 11th St. & Woodland Ave. The Riverside Dr. exit will also be closed. Use Cesar Chavez/Holly St. ramp. | From 10 PM until 6 AM Thursday, May 10 through Friday, May 11

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LN. TO US 290 EAST

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main-lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Huntland Dr. & US 290 E. | Until 5 AM Tuesday, July 3

 

  • I-35 left lane closed in both directions between US 183 & US 290 E. | From 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, May 6 through Thursday, May 10

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road closed between Huntland Dr. & US 290 E. | From 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, May 6 through Thursday, May 10

 

  • Southbound US 183 right lane closed between I-35 & Cameron Rd. The Cameron Rd. exit will also close. | Nightly from 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, May 6 through Thursday, May 10

I–35 FROM STASSNEY LN. TO WILLIAM CANNON DR.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

  • I-35 reduced to one lane in both directions at Stassney Ln. | From 10 PM until 6 AM Sunday, May 6 through Tuesday, May 8

 

  • Northbound I-35 left lane closed at Williamson Creek. | 9 AM Monday, May 7 to 3 PM Monday, May 7

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between William Cannon Dr. & Boggy Creek Dr. | 9 AM Tuesday, May 8 to 3 PM Tuesday, May 8

 

  • Eastbound William Cannon Dr. right lane closed at I-35. | From 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, May 7 through Friday, May 11

I–35 FROM US 79 TO SH 45 NORTH

PROJECT OVERVIEW | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hester’s Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

The northbound and southbound intersections of US 79 and the I-35 frontage roads are also being reconstructed to add a third left-turn for westbound US 79.

  • Eastbound McNeil Rd. left lane closed at I-35. | From 8 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, May 9 through Thursday, May 10

  • Northbound I-35 reduced to left lane at Howard Ln. & Grand Ave. Parkway. The Grand Ave. exit will also be checked. Use the Wells Branch Parkway exit. | From 9 PM until 5 AM Monday, May 7 through Tuesday, May 8

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to right lane between SH 45 & Howard Ln. The Grand Ave. exit and entrance will also be closed. Use the Wells Branch Parkway exit. | From 10 PM until 6 AM Tuesday, May 8 through Wednesday, May 9

 

  • I-35 frontage road closures in both directions between Wells Branch Parkway/FM 1825 & SH 45 N. | From 9 AM until 4 PM Tuesday, May 8 through Friday, May 11

 

  • Northbound I-35 reduced to one lane between Tech Ridge Blvd. & Howard Ln. The Parmer Ln. entrance will also be closed. | 9 PM Sunday, May 6 to 5 AM Monday, May 7

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to left lane between Parmer Ln. & Yager Ln. The Parmer Ln. entrance & Braker Ln. exit will also be closed. Use other ramps. | From 10 PM until 6 AM Wednesday, May 9 through Thursday, May 10

 

  • Northbound I-35 reduced to one left lane closed at Cesar Chavez St. The exit will remain open. | 6 AM Sunday, May 6 to 10 AM Sunday, May 6

 

  • Various closures I-35 frontage roads in each direction between Cesar Chavez St. & Sixth St. | Nightly from 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, May 6 through Thursday, May 10

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed at Luciano Flores Blvd. | From 9 AM until 4 PM Monday, May 7 through Wednesday, May 9

 

  • SAN MARCOS: I-35 north to south turnaround closed at SH 123. | From 9 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, May 9 through Thursday, May 11

 

  • SAN MARCOS: Northbound I-35 frontage road closed at SH 123. | 9 AM Thursday, May 10 to 4 PM Thursday, May 10

 

  • SAN MARCOS: Southbound I-35 right lane closed at SH123/Guadalupe St. | From 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, May 6 through Tuesday, May 8
