I35 Corridor Weekly Road Construction Alerts For Sunday, Feb. 25 – Friday, March 2

TxDOT, My I35 and Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority’s Weekly I35 Corridor Traffic and Road Construction Update.

TxDOT knows you’ve got to get where you need to go.

While construction is tough on everyone, TxDOT is trying to do
everything they can to minimize disruptions.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Two ramps on the southbound I-35 frontage roads between RM 1431 and FM 3406 are being reconstructed and reversed to address traffic congestion and improve I-35 frontage road and mainlane operations.

THIS WEEK’S PROJECT TRAFFIC ADVISORY

Closures are weather permitting

  • Southbound I-35 exit ramp to FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) closed. Use the southbound RM 1431 exit ramp and utilize the bypass lane to reach FM 3406. | Until March 2018, weather permitting. 

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane between RM 1431 & Chisholm Trail Rd. | Nightly from 9 PM until 5 AM, Monday, February 26 through Thursday, March 1.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

THIS WEEK’S PROJECT TRAFFIC ADVISORY

Closures are weather permitting

  • The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge. | Until summer 2018, weather permitting.

 

  • Alternating closures southbound I-35 frontage road at FM 3406. | 8 PM Thursday, March 1 to 5 AM Friday, March 2.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hester’s Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

The northbound and southbound intersections of US 79 and the I-35 frontage roads are also being reconstructed to add a third left-turn for westbound US 79.

Closures are weather permitting

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Mays Crossing & McNeil Rd. | Nightly from 8 PM until 5 AM Sunday, February 25 through Thursday, March 1.

 

  • Northbound I-35 reduced to one lane between RM 620 & Westinghouse Rd. Ramps will close as needed. | Nightly from 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, February 25 through Thursday, March 1.

 

  • McNeil Rd closed under I-35. The U-turns & Bellview Ave will also close. Detour via RM 620 & Hesters Crossing. | Nightly from 8 PM until 5 AM, Sunday, February 25 through Thursday, March 1.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

  • Southbound I-35 ramp to eastbound SH 71 closed. Expect alternating mainlane closures as needed. Detour to the frontage road. | 8 PM, Sunday, February 25 to 5 AM, Monday, February 26.

 

  • Northbound I-35 right lane closed between Boggy Creek & Stassney Ln. | Nightly from 9 PM until 5 AM, Sunday, February 25 through Thursday, March 1.

 

  • Southbound I-35 right lane closed between Stassney Ln. & Boggy Creek. | Nightly from 9 PM until 5 AM, Sunday, February 25 through Thursday, March 1.

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane at William Cannon Dr. | Nightly from 10 PM until 6 AM, Sunday, February 25 through Tuesday, February 27.

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Stassney Ln. & William Cannon Dr. exit ramp. | Daily from 8 AM until 3 PM, Monday, February 26 through Thursday, March 1.

 

  • Alternating closures northbound I-35 frontage road at Stassney Ln. | Daily from 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, February 26 through Thursday, March 1.

 

  • Various closures in both directions of the I-35 frontage roads at Corral Ln., Chaparral Rd., Battle Bend Dr., Little Texas Ln., Boggy Creek St., Nelms St. & William Cannon Dr. | Daily from 9 AM until 3 PM, Monday, February 26 through Thursday, March 1.

 

  • Southbound I-35 ramp to westbound US 290 closed with possible alternating closures. Detour to the frontage road. | 8 PM, Tuesday, February 27 to 5 AM, Wednesday, February 28.

 

  • Northbound I-35 ramp to eastbound US 290 closed. Expect northbound frontage road closures. | 8 PM, Thursday, March 1 to 5 AM, Friday, March 2.

 

  • North and southbound I-35 closed in both directions at William Cannon. Traffic will detour to the frontage road. | Nightly from 9 PM until 10 AM, Friday, March 2 & Saturday, March 3. Full closures begin at 11 PM both nights.

 

  • William Cannon Dr. closed in both directions across I-35. Traffic will detour to Slaughter Ln. & Stassney Ln. | From 8 PM until 10 AM, Friday, March 2 & Saturday, March 3.

I – 3 5   A T   O L T O R F   S T .

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, constructing new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between SH 71 & Woodward St. | Daily from 9 AM until 3 PM, Monday, February 26 through Friday, March 2.

 

  • I-35 frontage road right lane closed in both directions between Woodward St. & Oltorf St. Watch for flaggers. | Daily from 9 AM until 3 PM, Monday, February 26 through Friday, March 2.

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between St. Edwards Dr. & Woodward St. | 8 PM, Tuesday, February 27 to 5 AM, Wednesday, February 28.

I – 3 5   F R O M   R U N D B E R G   L N .   T O   U S   2 9 0   E A S T

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main-lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

  • Southbound I-35 frontage right lane closed between Blackson Ave. & St. Johns Ave. | Through Wednesday, February 28.

 

  • I-35 frontage road one lane closed each direction between US 290 E. & St. Johns Ave. | 9 PM, Tuesday, February 27 to 5 AM, Wednesday, February 28.

 

  • Various frontage road closures in both directions between Grady Dr. & Ridge Dr. | 11 PM, Wednesday, February 28, to 5 AM, Thursday, March 1.
