I35 Corridor Weekly Road Construction Alerts For Tuesday, Jan. 2 – Friday, Jan. 5

TxDOT, My I35 and Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority’s Weekly I35 Corridor Traffic and Road Construction Update.

TxDOT knows you’ve got to get where you need to go.

While construction is tough on everyone, TxDOT is trying to do
everything they can to minimize disruptions.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Two ramps on the southbound I-35 frontage roads between RM 1431 and FM 3406 are being reconstructed and reversed to address traffic congestion and improve I-35 frontage road and mainlane operations.

• THIS WEEK’S PROJECT TRAFFIC ADVISORY •

Closures are weather permitting.

 

  • Southbound I-35 exit ramp to FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) closed. Use the southbound RM 1431 exit ramp and utilize the bypass lane to reach FM 3406. | Until March 2018, weather permitting.

PROJECT OVERVIEWNew braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hester’s Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

The northbound and southbound intersections of US 79 and the I-35 frontage roads are also being reconstructed to add a third left-turn for westbound US 79.

• THIS WEEK’S PROJECT TRAFFIC ADVISORY • 

Closures are weather permitting.  

 

  • Various closures in both directions of the I-35 frontage roads at US 79 | Nightly from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday, January 2 through Thursday, January 4.

 

  • Various closures in both directions of the I-35 frontage roads between RM 620 & Westinghouse Rd. Will be reduced to one lane at times. Ramps will close as needed. | Nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday, January 2 through Thursday, January 4.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

• THIS WEEK’S PROJECT TRAFFIC ADVISORY •

Closures are weather permitting.

  • The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge closed to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn bridge. | Until summer 2018, weather permitting.

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane under FM 3406 | Nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday, January 2 through Thursday, January 4.

PROJECT  OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

Closures are weather permitting.

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage left lane closed between William Cannon Dr & Chaparral Rd | From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesday, January 2.

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Slaughter Ln & William Cannon Dr | Daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesday, January 2 through Friday, January 5.

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed at Slaughter Ln | From 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday, January 2 & Wednesday, January 3.

 

  • Northbound I-35 reduced to one lane under Stassney Ln | 9 p.m. Wednesday, January 3 to 5 a.m. Thursday, January 4.

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane at Stassney Ln | 9 p.m. Thursday, January 4 to 5 a.m. Friday, January 5.

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between William Cannon Dr & Slaughter Ln | Daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesday, January 2 through Friday, January 5.

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between William Cannon Dr & Slaughter Ln | Nightly from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday, January 2 through Friday, January 5.

I – 3 5   A T   O L T O R F   S T R E E T

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, constructing new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

Closures are weather permitting.

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed as needed between Oltorf St & Woodward St | Daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesday, January 2 through Friday, January 5.

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage left lane closed between Teri Ln & the US 290/SH 71 exit | Daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesday, January 2 through Friday, January 5.

 

  • Northbound I-35 right lane closed between Woodward St & Royal Hill Dr | Nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday, January 2 through Thursday, January 4.
