I35 Corridor Weekly Road Construction Alerts Including I-35 From RM 150 – Yarrington Road

While construction is tough on everyone, TxDOT is trying to do everything it can to minimize disruptions. TxDOT knows you’ve got to get where you need to go.

One new ramp will be added and five existing ramps will be modified between RM 150 and the Blanco River.

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed for 1/2 mile approaching Yarrington Rd. — Daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, August 14 through Friday, August 18.

New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hester’s Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts. The northbound and southbound intersections of US 79 and the I-35 frontage roads are also being reconstructed to add a third left-turn for westbound US 79.

Closures are weather permitting.

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane between Westinghouse Rd & US 79/Sam Bass Rd. Expect alternating ramp closures. — Nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, August 13 through Thursday, August 17

I – 3 5   A T   5 1  S T   S T R E E T

Work includes adding a southbound intersection bypass lane to allow through-traffic to bypass the traffic signal, re-configuring the entrance/exit ramps, and realigning the southbound frontage road to add a new roundabout that improves traffic flow and safety.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made within the project limits.

  • Northbound I-35 ramps between Barbara Jordan Dr & 51st St closed — Nightly closures from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. Sunday, August 13 through Tuesday, August 15

I – 3 5   A T   O L T O R F   S T R E E T

Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, constructing new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

  • Southbound I-35 left lane & northbound I-35 left & center lane closed at Oltorf Street. The northbound ramps on either side of Oltorf Street will also close. — From 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, August 13

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Mariposa St and the next entrance ramp. The Oltorf St exit and following entrance ramp will also close. — From 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, August 13

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Woodward St & Oltorf St — Daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, August 14 through Friday, August 18

I – 3 5   F R O M   S T A S S N E Y   L A N E   T O   W I L L I A M   C A N N O N   D R I V E

The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

  • Southbound I-35 left lane closed between William Cannon Dr & Slaughter Ln. — Nightly from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. Sunday, August 13 through Thursday, August 17

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Slaughter Ln & William Cannon Dr. — From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, August 14 & Tuesday, August 15

 

  • Northbound I-35 right lane closed between Slaughter Ln & William Cannon Dr. — Nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday, August 15 & Wednesday, August 16

TRAFFIC ALERT: I-35 Mainlanes and FM 3406 to close for U-turn bridge construction.

 

• THIS WEEK’S PROJECT TRAFFIC ADVISORY •

Closures are weather permitting and updated on Fridays.

  • FM 3406 will fully close at I-35. — 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, August 13

 

  • Northbound I-35 mainlanes to close at FM 3406. All traffic will detour to the frontage road. — 9 p.m. Sunday, August 13 to 5 a.m. Monday, August 14

 

  • Northbound I-35 reduced to one lane under FM 3406. — Nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Monday, August 14 through Thursday, August 17
