While construction is tough on everyone, TxDOT is trying to do
everything they can to minimize disruptions.

I-35 CORRIDOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

SUNDAY 7/1 – SATURDAY 7/7



I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between William Cannon Dr. and Nelms Dr. | Through August 2018

 

  • Eastbound William Cannon Dr. right lane closed approaching I-35. | Through Sunday, July 1

 

  • I-35 frontage road right lane closed in both directions at Stassney Ln. | 8 PM until 5 AM Sunday, July 1 through Monday, July 2

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed at William Cannon Dr. | 8 PM until 5 AM Monday, July 2 through Friday, July 6

 

  • William Cannon Dr. closed across I-35 | 8 PM until 5 AM Monday, July 2 through Friday, July 6

I-35 AT OLTORF ST.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, constructing new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

Closures are weather permitting

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between SH 71 and Woodward St. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, July 2

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Oltorf St. and Woodward St. Watch for flaggers. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, July 2 through Friday, July 6

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LN. TO US 290 EAST

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main-lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Huntland Dr. & US 290 E. | Through early July 2018

 

  • Powell Ln. closed at I-35. Detour via Wonsley Dr. | Through August 2018

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Blackson Ave. and St. Johns Ave. | 9 PM until 9 AM Sunday, May 13 through Thursday, July 5

 

  • Southbound I-35 right lane closed between Delmar Ave. and Blackson Ave. | 7 AM until 7 PM through Saturday, June 30

 

  • Southbound I-35 left lane closed between US 183 and US 290 E. | From 9 PM until 5 AM through Monday, July 2

 

  • Southbound I-35 right lane closed between US 183 and US 290 E. The exit for US 290/RM 2222 (#238) will also close. | 9 PM until 5 AM Thursday, July 5 and Friday, July 6

I-35 FROM RM 1431 TO FM 3406

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Two ramps on the southbound I-35 frontage roads between RM 1431 and FM 3406 are being reconstructed and reversed to address traffic congestion and improve I-35 frontage road and mainlane operations.

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane between Chandler Creek and Wolle Ln. | 9 PM until 5 AM Friday, June 29 through Monday, July 2

I–35 FROM US 79 TO SH 45 NORTH

PROJECT OVERVIEW | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hester’s Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

The northbound and southbound intersections of US 79 and the I-35 frontage roads are also being reconstructed to add a third left-turn for westbound US 79.

  • Various northbound I-35 frontage road closures between Gattis School Rd. and RM 620. | 8 AM until 3 PM Monday, July 2 through Friday, July 6

 

  • McNeil Rd. closed in both directions under I-35. | 9 PM until 5 AM Thursday, July 5

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed south of McCarty Ln. | 9 AM until 3 PM Friday, June 29 through Monday, July 2
