Indeed has named H-E-B among the top 10 workplaces for Military Veterans once again.
The San Antonio-based retailer was ranked #4 and is the only retailer among the top ten businesses.
In Indeed’s blog post, Indeed cites an H-E-B Partner (employee) who praised coworkers, the competitive hourly pay and the flexibility of the job, and adds that H-E-B is “by far the best place I have worked at since retiring from the military,” pointing specifically to the company’s solid management team as well as the “great benefits … and atmosphere.”
The rankings are based on employer ratings and reviews by employees on Indeed.
Last month, Indeed named H-E-B the #1 retailer to work for in the nation for the third year in a row.
The retailer regularly honors veterans for their courage and sacrifice throughout the year; in 2019, HEB saluted thousands of its Partners who answered the call of duty at 325 Veterans Day receptions across the state.
In addition, more than 600 H-E-B Partners who are currently deployed on military duty were sent H-E-B holiday care packages.
In 2013, the retailer launched H-E-B Operation Appreciation, a year-round initiative to honor and provide employment opportunities to military service members and their families.
This year, more than 1,600 Veterans and about 1,000 military spouses were welcomed into the retailer’s ranks.
As part of this initiative, H-E-B and the H-E-B Tournament of Champions have gifted nearly 30 custom-built, mortgage-free homes across Texas, many of which are fully furnished, to severely injured military Veterans.
H-E-B’s statewide tear-pad campaign raises funds for the homes and other military-serving non-profits, including the Military Child Education Coalition, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors and the USO.
“Active duty military members, Veterans, and their families help make this a special place to work. We’re honored to call them Partners and we thank them for carrying the torch of liberty in service to the nation,” said Winell Herron, H-E-B Group Vice President of Public Affairs, Diversity and Environmental Affairs. “At H-E-B, we recognize the courage and sacrifices of those called to serve our country on Veterans Day and throughout the year.”
