Intestate 35 Exit Ramp To SH 45 SE Closed

AUSTIN – The extensive rains of recent months have prompted closing the northbound Interstate 35 exit ramp #223A to SH 45 Southeast and SH 130, due to ground water potentially undermining the pavement. Safety is our top priority; therefore, the exit will remain closed while engineers review options to safely re-open the ramp.

Ground water levels adjacent to the ramp have risen due to the large amount of rain this year. The moisture has saturated the ramp between the retaining walls, causing pavement failures on the I-35 exit ramp to SH 45SE. TxDOT engineers are evaluating options for a permanent repair. In the meantime, a temporary pavement fix will be made in order to allow TxDOT to safely open the ramp to traffic. This could occur within the next week. Until then, the #223A exit ramp will remain closed.

Drivers should use exit #223 for FM 1327 to reach SH 45SE.

Road signs have been placed alerting drivers of the closure. Motorists should allow extra time to travel through this area. TxDOT asks the traveling public to be patient and remain aware when traveling through the detour.
