SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State men’s basketball coach Danny Kaspar announced Wednesday the schedule for the upcoming 2018-19 season.
The Bobcats will compete 31 times overall, with 14 of those games coming inside the newly-renovated Strahan Arena at the University Events Center. TXST will also have 15 road contests and two neutral-site tilts.
Texas State will play eight games against programs that advanced to postseason competition last season, including a trio of contests against two NCAA Championship teams in Arkansas and Georgia State (twice). Louisiana qualified for the 2018 National Invitation Tournament (NIT), ULM and UTRGV played in the 2018 College Basketball Invitational (CBI) and Drake and UTSA saw action in the 2018 CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT).
“We feel we have come up with a competitive non-conference schedule to help us prepare for tough Sun Belt Conference play,” Kaspar said. “We have Air Force, Rice and Houston Baptist at home with tough road games against Arkansas, Drake, UTSA, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and UTRGV. We also have a good Thanksgiving Classic tournament in Portland. I feel we will be battle-tested going into conference action.”
The 2018-19 campaign is slated to begin with the first game inside Strahan Arena when the Bobcats welcome Air Force at 7 p.m. Nov. 9. Texas State also has a marquee road trip on Dec. 22 at Arkansas.
Sun Belt Conference play will begin Jan. 3 when the maroon and gold plays host to Georgia Southern.
The opening round of the 2018-19 Sun Belt Championship will be hosted on campus sites this season, with the remainder of the tournament being contested inside Lakefront Arena in New Orleans.
Texas State posted a 15-18 record last season and finished with a 7-11 mark in Sun Belt action.
Season tickets are now available for purchase through the Texas State online ticket center website.
Prices for season tickets will depend upon seating location. General admission season tickets will be available for as low as $99 and lower reserved seating options will start at $130.
