KSMB Spring Concert Series Features Hell Camino, Alex Ruiz

The third concert in the Keep San Marcos Beautiful Spring Concert Series at San Marcos Plaza Park will feature Hell Camino and Alex Ruiz, along with Earth-Day themed activities.

Pre-concert events start at 6:30 p.m. on April 21, 2016 at the San Marcos Plaza Park stage, 401 E. Hopkins, located at the corner of CM Allen Parkway and Hopkins.

Hell Camino:

Formed in 2008, Hell Camino has developed a devoted following of fans of classic rock and roll. The current lineup of Hell Camino has been together since 2012.  The band plays classic hits from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s by bands such as Cheap Trick, Led Zeppelin and AC/DC.  Get ready for your jams by your favorite rock groups!

Alex Ruiz:

Since first taking the stage in over ten years ago with Austin’s renowned Latin-rock group Del Castillo, lead singer Alex Ruiz has stirred and swooned fans worldwide with his dynamic stage presence, fearless vocal range, and heartfelt, passionate songwriting.

Drawing primarily from blues, roots, and rock influences, Ruiz has recently incorporated more flamenco and traditional Spanish material into his original music after finding inspiration during European tours with Del Castillo, and his work has led to collaborations with artists such as Willie Nelson, Carlos Santana, and Los Lonely Boys.

With Del Castillo no longer active, Ruiz has kept busy performing with his own group, the Night Mothers, as well as Chingon, a group formed by filmmaker Robert Rodriguez.

Local organizations have been invited to host interactive booths to educate San Marcos residents and visitors of all ages. Come help celebrate Earth Day at our pre Earth Day party and learn about ways to keep our planet beautiful.

Pre-concert events begin at 6:30 p.m., and concert headliners take the stage at approximately 7:30 p.m. In case of severe weather, spring concert series will be moved to The Marc. Free public, on-street parking is available within walking distance of the concert, as well as at City Park.

The parking lots at the Chamber of Commerce and Old Fish Hatchery will be closed to the general public, and parking attendants will be on hand to allow for volunteer, vendor, and sponsor parking. Handicapped parking will be available in the Grant Harris, Jr./Parks and Recreation Office parking lot at 401 E. Hopkins.

The public is invited to bring lawn chairs to enjoy the free concert. Responsible use of alcohol is allowed at this event for those over 21. Under park rules Styrofoam, glass, and smoking are not permitted.

This event is made possible by support from Mobile Phone Geeks, Texas Disposal Systems, Root Cellar Café, The Hitch, Carson Properties, Ault & Ault Orthodontics, Patio Dolcetto, Classic Tattoo, Full Circle Salon, and Mensor.

The last concert in the KSMB Spring Concert Series will be next Thursday, April 28.  The last act for the 2016 spring season includes HalleyAnna Finlay with Whistle and Fish.
