Kyle City Council To Consider Resolution Opposing The Proposed Permian Highway Pipeline

On Tuesday, Feb. 19, the Kyle City Council will consider a resolution opposing the proposed Permian Highway Pipeline (PHP) Project’s proposed route through the City of Kyle and its extraterritorial jurisdiction.

Kinder Morgan and Exxon Mobile have partnered with EagleClaw Midstream Ventures to route a 42-inch underground high-pressure natural gas pipeline from Coyanosa, Texas, to Sheridan, Texas.

The resolution states the pipeline’s proposed route will “traverse the properties of multiple landowners,” in Hays County and the private partnership “has not performed a formal Environmental Impact Study evaluating the potential impact to property near or adjacent to the PHP, the Trinity and Edwards Aquifers, other groundwater sources, erosion, drainage, subsidence and other generally detrimental impacts to the surrounding community.”  

In addition, the resolution calls state lawmakers “to protect landowners, landowners’ property rights and communities from the negative impact of PHP and other potential oil and gas pipelines.”

In other news, the Kyle City Council will consider the approval of a parking expansion for Plum Creek Golf Club to add eight additional parking spaces.

According to the agenda, no portion of the proposed site for the parking expansion is located in the Edward’s Aquifer Recharge Zone or the 100-year floodplain.

The site plan was approved by Kyle Planning and Zoning Commission by a 6-0 vote.

Also, council will discuss the city of Kyle’s Ethics Code with regard to creating a provision to allow employees to represent the city at sponsored events.

Kyle City Council will convene at 7:00 PM in the Kyle City Council Chambers.
