KYLE – Kyle Economic Development has announced that Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux, a Cajun inspired restaurant and sports bar with Louisiana roots, will open a new location in Kyle in late 2022.
During the Tuesday, April 19 Kyle City Council meeting, council awarded Walk-On’s the city’s second restaurant incentive by approving a 100% sales tax rebate for the first 3 years.
Recognizing the need for additional family-friendly, sit-down dining opportunities for residents, the City Council was pleased to support the incentive. The restaurant will initiate an approximate $4.3 million capital investment and the business is looking to hire up to 100 new employees.
“We are excited to welcome Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux to our community,” Mayor Travis Mitchell said. “Walk-On’s will not only offer residents a family-friendly, sit-down
LSU basketball walk-ons Brandon Landry and Jack Warner founded the restaurant over ideas shared while traveling with the team. The pair opened the first Walk-On’s in 2003, near LSU’s Tiger Stadium. In 2015, NFL All-Pro Quarterback and native Austinite Drew Brees joined the Walk-On’s® team as a co-owner.
At Walk-On’s each dish is made from scratch, building on Cajun and Creole cuisine, serving catfish, crawfish, shrimp, po’boys and more.
The Kyle location will be approximately 8,000 square feet and will be located in Plum Creek at the corner of FM 1626 and Kohlers Crossing. Construction will begin in early summer with an anticipated opening date before the end of the year.
“I grew up in this area and graduated from Hays High School a mile away from the new Walk-On’s,” Kyle Franchisee John Usher said. “I am excited to bring the Walk-On’s brand of great food and a family-friendly environment to Kyle and Central Texas.
