Kyle man arrested by state on Possession of Child Pornography

The responsibilities, of the Office of the Attorney General, are to serve as legal counsel to all boards and agencies of state government, issue legal opinions when requested by the Governor, heads of state agencies, and other officials and agencies as provided by Texas statutes.

The Texas Child Exploitation Unit Weekly Arrests

• Hays County
Luis Alberto Gonzales, 18, of Kyle, was arrested on two counts of Possession of Child Pornography on May 26. This case was received as a NCMEC CyberTipline report involving the upload of child pornography to an email account. Investigators executed a warrant at his home, and they discovered several files of child pornography on his cell phone. Multiple items were seized for examination by the Digital Forensics Unit. Gonzales was transported to the Hays County Jail. 

• Williamson County
Peter Ray Craig was arrested on five counts of Possession of Child Pornography with Prior Conviction. This case was received as a NCMEC CyberTipline report involving the upload of images of child pornography to an online photo storage platform.
On May 20, investigators executed a search warrant at Craig’s home in Round Rock where more files of child pornography were found. During an interview, Craig confessed to uploading and storing files of child pornography.
Four additional counts of Possession of Child Pornography with Prior Conviction were added to Craig’s charges. Investigators seized his cell phone for examination by the Digital Forensics Unit. Craig was transported to the Williamson County Jail.

• Travis County
Zaoin Deshone Gilmore was arrested in Austin on May 17. Gilmore had an outstanding warrant for Aggravated Robbery with a Deadly Weapon issued by the Round Rock Police Department. This arrest was made while working with the United States Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force out of Austin.

• Dallas County
Anthony Michael Arce was arrested in Rowlett on May 19.  Arce had outstanding warrants for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, 1st Degree Felony and Sexual Performance by Child, 2nd Degree Felony issued by the Marble Falls Police Department.

• Harris County
Gary Wayne George was arrested in Houston on May 19. George had open felony warrants for Rape and Possession of Pornographic Material-Minor issued by the Autauga County Sheriff’s Office. George also had a non-extraditable warrant for a Probation Violation issued by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office in Florida.
George is a convicted sex offender. In 1996, he was convicted of Attempted Sexual Abuse in Montgomery County, Alabama. This arrest was made while working with the United States Marshals Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force out of Houston.

• Shelby County
Joseph Philip Landry was arrested in Center on May 20. Landry had outstanding warrants from the State of Louisiana for 30 counts of Pornography Involving Juvenile (under the age of 13) and one count of Unauthorized Use of a Wireless Router System; Pornography involving Juveniles (under that age of 13) issued by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation. The Unit was assisted by the Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force.

• Harris County
Gregory Bryans Myers was arrested in Houston on May 26. In 2007, Myers was convicted of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child in Harris County and was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison. Myers failed to comply with mandated Sex Offender Registration requirements and a corresponding Fail to Comply as a Sex Offender warrant was by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

• Bexar County
Shaun Patrick Neuman was arrested in San Antonio on May 26. Neuman had an outstanding warrant for Sex Offense – Sexual Performance by a Child Less Than 14 Years/Employ/Direct/Promote issued by the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office. This arrest was made while working with the United States Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force out of San Antonio.

Paxton Reaches Agreement with Tobacco Companies Resulting in $195 Million Awarded to Texas

AUSTIN – Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced a settlement agreement with major tobacco companies that will result in $195 million paid to Texas.

The lawsuit arose out of the 1998 Texas Tobacco Settlement Agreement, by which major tobacco companies must make annual payments to Texas to reimburse it for smoking-related health care costs.

In 2015, ITG Brands LLC acquired four cigarette brands from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company—Kool, Maverick, Salem, and Winston—but neither company made the required settlement payments related to those brands after the sale.

Because of the agreement, ITG Brands has assumed the financial obligations for these brands, agreed to pay $195 million now in back payments owed, and committed to making payments to the State of Texas going forward.

“I am very pleased with the resolution to this hard-fought lawsuit. Texas taxpayers are owed substantial back payments, and we will not allow any company to shirk their obligations to the people of this state,” Attorney General Paxton said. “I will continue to enforce the law – and we will never back down from a fight in order to bring justice to hard-working Texans.”
