Kyle Police Arrest Wrong-Way Driver On Four Counts Of Manslaughter

Kyle Police confirmed today the arrest of Wilson Rene Molinares, 22, in connection with a vehicle accident on Feb. 19 that took the lives of four people including a 16-month-old boy.

According to Kyle Police Department Chief Jeff Barnett, his officers served Molinares with four arrest warrants for the offense of manslaughter. Following his arrest, he was arraigned by Hays County Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Beth Smith, who also signed the arrest warrants on Feb. 22. Molinares is now in the custody of Hays County Sheriff’s Office.

Barnett said the four arrest warrants were unable to be executed immediately because of Molinares’s medical condition. Barnett said his department needed time to coordinate the execution of the warrants, taking into account the subject’s medical condition and the ability to conduct the book-in and subsequent arraignment process. Barnett added that KPD was aware of Molinares’s location at all times after the warrants were issued.

He also confirmed that the bonds for Molinares were set at $250,000 per charge for total of $1 million.

This is currently the only information the City of Kyle and its police department will release about the case; no comments, statements or interviews will be granted at this time as the investigative process is ongoing. If more information becomes available, the city’s communications department will release it. We appreciate your understanding.
