I-35 AT POSEY ROAD

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project will construct a new overpass on I-35 over Posey Road, add two new U-turns in each direction at Posey Road, perform ramp reversals and convert two-way frontage roads to one-way.

Currently, the I-35 main lanes go under Posey Road with the new configuration, I-35 main lanes will going over Posey Road.

This project is made possible by a partnership between Hays County/TxDOT and is expected to cost $31.7 million funded by TxDOT.

The I-35 and Posey Road construction started in February 2019 and anticipated construction completion is planned for mid-2021. The project contractor is Webber, LLC.

I-35 FROM RM 150 TO KYLE CROSSING

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project will reconfigure the northbound entrance/exit ramps between RM 150 and Kyle Crossing. The improvements include reversing the northbound entrance/exit ramps, reconstructing the northbound frontage road, adding new extended lanes between entrance/exit ramps, and constructing a new frontage road bridge over Plum Creek.

The estimated construction cost is $21.9 million and is funded by the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) and TxDOT. Construction commenced in September 2020 and its anticipated completion is early 2022. Hunter Industries, Ltd is the contractor for this project.

LANE CLOSURE

Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed from FM 150 to Brent Boulevard.
• Through January 2021.

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek. Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 main lanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

This major project is estimated to cost $78.8 million. Construction started in July 2016 with the anticipated completion in late 2020. The contractor for this project is OHL, USA, Inc.

Southbound I-35 left lane closed nightly from the SH 71/Ben White Boulevard entrance ramp to Slaughter Lane. Multiple entrances and exit ramps will close as needed.

Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed daily from Colonial Park Boulevard to William Cannon Drive.

Eastbound Stassney Lane right turn lane closed daily at the southbound I-35 frontage road.

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LN. TO US 290 EAST

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

I-35 from Rundberg Lane to US 290 East is estimated to cost $124.2 million and is made possible by Texas Clear Lanes Congestion Relief Fund.

The construction commenced in January 2018 with an anticipated completion date in mid-2021. The contractor for this project is J.D. Abrams.

LANE CLOSURE

Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed nightly from Norwood Park Boulevard to Park Plaza Drive. The Rundberg Lane exit (#241) and the Rundberg Lane entrance ramp will also be closed.
• Monday, Nov. 30 through Thursday, Dec. 3 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m.

LANE CLOSURE

Southbound I-35 right lane closed nightly from Huntland Drive to US 290 East. The St. Johns Avenue entrance ramp and the 51st Street exit (#238B) will also be closed.
• Monday, Nov. 30 through Thursday, Dec. 3 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m.

Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed daily from Blackson Avenue to Huntland Drive.

Northbound US 183 frontage road closed nightly from Clock Tower Drive to I-35. The I-35/Lamar Boulevard exit will also be closed.

Southbound I-35 right two lanes closed nightly from US 183 to Huntland Drive. The southbound US 183 to southbound I-35 flyover will also be closed.

LANE CLOSURE

Southbound I-35 right lane closed nightly from Rundberg Lane to the US 183/St. Johns Avenue exit (#240). The US 183/St. Johns Avenue exit will also be closed.

I-35 FROM GRAND AVENUE PARKWAY TO SH 45 NORTH

PROJECT ACTIVITY | Improvements include reversing ramps, constructing an extended entrance/exit lane on the northbound I-35 mainlanes under SH 45 North, along the frontage road, installing high-mast lighting, and improvements at Picadilly Drive and the I-35 frontage road.

The projected cost is estimated at $8.2 million and funded by CAMPO and TxDOT. Construction will start in August 2020 and anticipated to be complete in mid-2021. The project contractor is Jordan Foster Construction.

I-35 AT PARMER LANE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Reduced congestion, improved mobility at Parmer Lane and Lamar Boulevard, operational efficiency, more reliable travel times, lower fuel consumption.

The estimated construction cost for this project is funded by Texas Clear Lanes and Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) with an estimated cost of $24.6 million.

Construction started in July 2019 with an estimated timeline to be completed by mid-2021. Primoris Services Corporation is the project contractor.
