Landis Shoe Clinic Enriches Downtown For Over A Century

“I really enjoy talking with the customers and getting to know them throughout the years and their families, and it’s just a pleasure doing that,” Mendez said.

Landis Shoe Clinic has been named the “May Downtown Business of the Month” by the San Marcos Main Street Program for serving the Downtown San Marcos community for over 100 years.

Located at 120 S LBJ Dr., this shoe repair shop has been an integral part of Downtown San Marcos since 1917.

The business also offers services such as wallet and purse repair and retail including leather accessories such as wallets, belts, and cowboy boots.

Beyond repairing shoes and selling accessories, getting to know their customers and developing lasting relationships with them is what makes Landis Shoe Clinic unique and contributes to their longevity as a Downtown business.

Store Owner Ronnie Mendez said that the comradery with the customers is his favorite part about owning the store.

“I really enjoy talking with the customers and getting to know them throughout the years and their families, and it’s just a pleasure doing that,” Mendez said.

The Main Street Program congratulates Landis Shoe Clinic for its longevity as a business, and for enriching Downtown San Marcos with its history. If you know of a worthy downtown business based on Main Street’s eight criteria below or for more information, email mainstreet@sanmarcostx.gov.
