Latest road construction, detours, closures in San Marcos for week of February 7

NOTE...
The City of San Marcos does not maintain a timely list of construction projects for media or public. Therefore, some of the construction projects listed below might have been completed and are still listed. Once the city updates its website we will update the list below.

The short & long term road construction projects that could affect your drive… Please use caution, drive slowly, and watch for heavy equipment, construction workers, and traffic control flaggers.

  • All traffic projects may be subject to delays or extensions due to weather and/or the current Public Health situation.

REOCCURRING CLOSURES

EAST SAN ANTONIO STREET — FARMERS MARKET | 7:30 AM – 3 PM
EVERY SATURDAY — Half a block of the street closed from the Alley to N. LBJ for the Farmers Market on the Square. Main Street Program 512.393.8430.

 

CURRENT CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

 

HOPKINS STREET | MAY 2020 — SPRING OF 2022
Hopkins Street between Bishop Street and Moore Street will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic for a Street Reconstruction Project. Traffic will be detoured to Craddock at both ends of the project, with only local traffic allowed. Phase 4 is underway with local traffic closures from Blanco to Moore Street. The overall completion of the project is anticipated by Spring 2022. For more information call Richard Reynosa with the City of San Marcos Engineering Department at 512.393.8235.

UHLAND ROAD | DECEMBER 2021 — MARCH 2022
1300 and 1400 Blocks of Uhland Road will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic for a Road Reconstruction Project. For more information call Todd Keltgen at 512.212.7990.

GUADALUPE STREET IMPROVEMENTS | CURRENT
Sidewalk closed from Guadalupe Street at Martin Luther King Drive to the railroad crossing for reconstruction. Also, a single lane closure at Hopkins Street at Guadalupe Street. Completion is expected by end of summer 2021. For information call New Age General Contractors, Inc. at 830.560.9077.

WEST SESSOMS DRIVE | AUGUST 2021 – AUGUST 2023
West Sessom Drive from LBJ Drive to Canyon Road will have single-lane closures for Boring Operations – Diego Ratchford – 512.250.8310.

EAST SAN ANTONIO STREET | CURRENT – FEBRUARY 11, 2022 | 7 AM – 6 PM
The sidewalk at the corner of East San Antonio and Edward Gary will be closed for Sidewalk Maintenance. Public Works – 512.393.8036

ACADEMY STREET | FEBRUARY 7 – 12, 2022 | 8 AM – 5 PM
The 1200 Block of Academy Street will have single eastbound lane closure for a Gas Line Relocation. Centerpoint Energy – 830.643.6927.

YALE STREET | FEBRUARY 4-11, 2022 | 8 AM – 5 PM
The 300 Block of Yale Street will be closed for a Gas Line Relocation – Centerpoint Energy – 830.643.6927.
 

FELTNER AVENUE | JANUARY 31 – MARCH 31, 2022 | 7 AM – 5 PM
Feltner Avenue between Martin Luther King and West San Antonio will be closed for Utility Construction – Jacob Snyder 737.222.1789.

IH-35 FRONTAGE ROAD | SEPTEMBER 2021 – JANUARY 2022

MILESTONE 1 | SEPTEMBER 2021 – DECEMBER 2021
The South Bound Frontage Road from Rio Vista Street to CM Allen Parkway will be reduced to a single lane for a Texas Department of Transportation Road Reconstruction Project – Mike Harlin – TXDOT Construction Project Manager – 512.487.9501.

MILESTONE 2 | STARTING JANUARY 5, 2022
The South Bound Frontage Road will be closed at CM Allen Parkway to McKie Street with all traffic detoured through CM Allen Parkway to Cheatham Street and down Guadalupe Street for a Texas Department of Transportation Road Reconstruction Project. – Mike Harlin – TXDOT Construction Project Manager – 512.487.9501.
