Leisure Resort, Animal Shelter Team Up For Adoption

Leisure Resort’s 6th Annual Fall Pecan Festival has added a pet adoption to the event in hopes finding forever homes to shelter animals.  The festival is on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016 from noon until 5 p.m. and San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter is teaming with adoption ready animals.

The Resort is offering 30% off camping rates and $5 day guest fees. The Shelter will be offering discounted adoptions for dogs and cats in combination with their Homes for the Holidays adoption drive, going on from Oct. 1, 2016 through Jan. 2, 2017. Dog adoptions will be only $20 instead of the regular $90 fee, and cat adoptions will be half off ($45) the regular adoption price of $90.

“We are hoping to beat the 50% adoption rate from our last event with our friends at the San Marcos Animal Shelter back in May,” said Kathy Lopatowski of Leisure Resort. “Pet adoption is close to our hearts and we are proud to team up in finding homes for the adoptable dogs and cats at the shelter.  Adding this to our Annual Pecan Festival seemed like a perfect fit.”

In addition to the pet adoption there will be an artisan and craft show, live music from Melissa Engleman and Landers / Marshall Duo, pumpkin decorating, hay rides, kids’ crafts and face painting, pecan picking and other family activities.

“We have had so much fun teaming up with leisure resorts for previous events we cannot wait to partner with them for this event,” said Animal Shelter Supervisor Erin McCann. “What could be better than pie and pets? We all want to get as many pets as possible into forever homes this holiday season, and what a fun way to kick it off!”
