LifeLong Learning To Offer Two New Workshops At Price Center

San Marcos, TX –The LifeLong Learning Organization of San Marcos (LLL) and Price Center are teaming up again with local artist Michael Hannon to present two new workshops beginning next month.

Pen & Ink Drawing and Celtic Calligraphy & Illumination will begin 6 week runs beginning March 4 and 5 respectively. Both workshops require advance registration, a $45 payment, and certain tools/materials to participate.

Pen & Ink Drawing will be an introduction to traditional pen and ink drawing techniques, including hatching, cross hatching, the use of brushes with ink for filling large areas, etc. Use of dip pen, disposable illustration (needle pointed) pens, and rapidograph style technical pens can all be used. The class will meet Monday’s from 10 a.m. – Noon March 4, 11, 18, 25 and April 1, 8.

Celtic Calligraphy & Illumination will introduce the Irish majuscule and minuscule lettering, as well as angular (display) script, used in Irish manuscripts from about the seventh to thirteenth centuries.

The manipulation of a broad nib pen to form the letters, and their integration with traditional styles of illumination, especially of the eighth and ninth centuries, will be emphasized. The class will meet from 1 – 3 p.m. March 5, 12, 19, 26 and April 2 and 9.
