The goal of SMFD is to have working smoke detectors in every home in San Marcos.
Brett Harmer from United Technologies Aerospace Systems donated almost 40 smoke detectors on July 7, 2017 to the San Marcos Fire Department for the department’s smoke detector program.
The employees of UTC Aerospace Systems held a smoke detector fundraiser as part of their community awareness project and those collected were shared between the SMFD and South Hays County Volunteer Fire Department.
“We were thrilled to accept their generous contribution of smoke detectors,” said Fire Chief Les Stephens. “The fire department receives numerous requests to install or check smoke detectors every year.”
The goal of SMFD is to have working smoke detectors in every home in San Marcos. Free battery operated smoke detectors are available for residents living within the City limits.
If you need help installing or checking your battery home smoke detectors, the SMFD can install new detectors and check your current ones. Call the Smoke Detector Hotline at 512.393.8484 for this free service.
