Hays County, TX – October 11, 2016
Hays County Food Bank is proud to welcome its newest team member, Jason Kamimoto of Honolulu, Hawaii. As the new Volunteer Services Coordinator, he will assist all who wish to donate their time to the organization and uphold its vision to create a well-nourished community.
Jason graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Boston University in 2008. and in early 2015, he moved to Chicago, Illinois. While there, he became involved with several non-profits throughout the city and discovered his passion for helping his community. Jason is no stranger to helping feed people in need. While volunteering at the American Indian Center, he served lunches once a week to the community. Jason says, “I was able to see the impact of bringing the community together rather than just serving a meal.”
The food bank staff are certain that Jason will be a great fit at Hays County Food Bank. His previous volunteer experience and his devotion to helping those in need will provide a great foundation for him to grow within the organization.
In 2015, Hays County Food Bank and its 20+ partner agencies distributed 690,397 pounds of food to an average of nearly 12,000 food, insecure residents, each month. These residents were senior citizens, children, and many others facing economic challenges. “Food insecurity” refers to the availability of food and one’s access to it. Hays County Food Bank is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the public to perform its mission.
