The FBI is investigating an incident, which occurred over the weekend, allegedly involving Trump supporters and a Biden-Harris Campaign Bus and a vehicle carrying staffers.
Video evidence shows the bus surrounded by vehicles that witnesses reported had Trump flags on them.
According to the Kyle Police Department, at least two vehicles may have made contact as the caravan continued on I-35.
The San Marcos Police Department said an additional investigation would be required to identify who is at fault for the collision.
Several officials tweeted about the incident, including Travis County Democratic Party Chair Katie Naranjo and Representative Erin Zwiener.
The Biden-Harris Bus was headed to a campaign event in Downtown San Marcos.
Zwiener noted she had been waiting for the bus with a group of 30 people, which included small children. After the incident, the event was canceled with safety in mind.
“Choosing to protect others isn’t letting them,” Zwiener said in response to criticisms about the event’s cancelation. “It’s living our values.”
The Kyle Police Department received reports around 4 PM of two or more vehicles having made contact while on Northbound I-35.
According to KPD, officers reported to the scene, but no one stopped to provide information regarding the incident.
The City of San Marcos said the San Marcos Police also responded to a call requesting a police escort, but traffic did not allow officers to catch up with the bus before it left SMPD jurisdiction.
Kristy Start, director of communications for the City of San Marcos, said an unrelated car crash on I-35 had caused the delay.
SMPD said after reviewing videos of the incident posted online and further research, the accident appears to have occurred within their jurisdiction.
The department has asked the owner of the White SUV, who is believed to be the at-fault vehicle, and the black truck involved in the accident to file a report with their department.
“Calls to the driver of the white SUV have gone unanswered, and SMPD has not been contacted by the driver of the black truck,” SMPD said in a statement. “Since SMPD has not spoken to either driver at this time, an additional investigation would be required to ascertain who was at fault fully.”
According to the City of San Marcos, the San Marcos Police Department is working with the FBI to gather information about the incident.
KXAN reported Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra is calling for an investigation by the state into the incident and how law enforcement responded.
However, law enforcement agencies like the Hays County Constable’s Office Pct. 1 and the Hays County Sheriff’s Office were not notified of the event or the bus’s route.

So the only politician aboard was Wendy Davis? Oh, you forgot to report how Constable Peterson knew the facts of the matter and was waiting to meet Davis at the scene, yet took no action. Just goes to show what law enforcement doesn't know...or maybe I should say, what Peterson does know about Ruben Becerra's lack of credibility. But don't sell Ruben short, 'cause when it comes to telling lies that you can believe in, Reuben has no equal, wait ...that's sexist, so let me include Erin Zweiner
