On Wednesday, October 10, the Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association will hold its Jailbird Lock up fundraiser at Kent Black’s BBQ.

Residents are invited to eat lunch and see several local leaders behind bars in an effort to raise money for the San Marcos CPAAA.

The CPAAA’s mission is to promote and enhance the relationship between the community and the San Marcos Police Department.

The SMCPAAA volunteers its time to support our local SMPD. Members have volunteered sorting brass, making warrant calls, participating in role playing for police training, wrapping gifts for the Blue Santa Program and we raise funds to support our Police Officers.

The San Marcos Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association helped the family of San Marcos Police Officer Ken Copeland after he was killed in the line of duty last year.

Among this year’s jailbirds is Brian Olson, Chief David Smith, David Case, Jason Mock, Jude Prather, Will Conley, Ken Strange, Lon Shell, Daniel Guerrero, Mike Jones, Monte Sheffield and Mayor John Thomaides. The jailbirds will be transported to Black’s BBQ from the San Marcos Police Department via the Caiman.

Each leader has a bail log and a bail of $500 dollars.

The event will start at 11 AM and end at 2 PM with the goal of getting all of San Marcos’s jailbirds out from behind bars.

Want to help? Donate through the San Marcos Citizen’s Academy Alumni Association’s Facebook page here or write a check to the CPAAA and bring it to Black’s BBQ tomorrow.

The proceeds of the event will help the CPAAA purchase emergency supplies including SMCISD Classroom Safety Supplies, “Go Buckets” emergency supplies for local schools, first responders breaching tool for us in the event of a natural disaster or active shooting, SMPD and CPA training equipment and the TXCPAAA 2019 Convention, which San Marcos will be hosting in 2019.
