SBP (formerly known as St. Bernard Project), a non-profit organization specializing in national disaster recovery, is accepting applications Jan. 10 – Feb., 10, 2017, to rehabilitate seven homes impacted by the 2015 Memorial Day and/or All Saints Day floods.
The program is funded through the City of San Marcos’ regular Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, a separate program from the federal HUD Disaster Recovery grant.
Applications are received and reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, and are compared to determine priority of the cases. Applications selected will be based on compliance with program regulations, the greatest need, and the income of the family.
Considerations for determining “greatest need” include: household income (priority is given to households with the lowest annual income); households that include one or more persons with a disability; and, households occupied by persons 62 and over or with children younger than 18 years.
Considerations for “project feasibility” include: estimated cost of repairs, property value, timeliness of supplemental document submission, and estimated sustainability of the home upon completion of rehabilitation activities.
Program Qualifications
Income Limits
Income limits are established by HUD on an annual basis for the purpose of establishing CDBG grant eligibility, and are based on household size.
Income is calculated for every adult 18 and older residing in the household. HUD considers 80% of Annual Median Family Income (AMFI) and below to be low income.
San Marcos CDBG Income Limits are established based upon the Annual Median Family Income for the Austin/Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA).
The current Median Family Income for the Austin-Round Rock MSA is $76,800, effective March 25, 2015:
