Staff Reports
The Lockhart Police Department is investigating a case regarding a teacher who engaged in an improper relationship with a student.
Taylor Seymour of Kyle, Texas, a teacher and coach, at Lockhart High School was arrested after police received a warrant for her arrest.
According to officials, Seymour admitted to having an inappropriate relationship with a female student, which began during the last summer.
Police said Seymour surrendered herself to the Lockhart Police Department and has been booked into Caldwell County Jail.
Lockhart ISD released a letter to parents informing them of Seymour’s suspension and arrest. District officials said they had received a complaint about Seymour on Monday and partnered with LPD to investigate. The complaint has been reported to Child Protective Services.
Lockhart ISD will send a notice of the conduct to the State Board for Educator Certification as well, according to the letter from the district.
“The trust between a teacher and student is sacred, and we do not and will not tolerate any violation of that trust,” said Superintendent of School Mark Estrada in a letter to parents today. “The safety of our students is our number one priority, and we will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement during this ongoing investigation.”
Estrada assured parents Seymour would not be returning to the district and asked them to encourage their students to always say something to an adult if they hear or see anything that is concerning to make sure students are safe.
LHS parents were asked to contact LPD Detective David Martinez at 512-398-4401 if they have any additional information about the situation.
