San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District is making strides to engage its students in learning every day.
San Marcos CISD has nearly 8,000 students enrolled between its high school, two middle schools and six elementary schools according to the district’s website.

Miller Middle School Kicks Off SMCISD Gear Up
Miller Middle School kicked off SMCISD GEAR UP Week with a GEAR UP Family Night on Monday evening!
The current GEAR UP program impacts SMCISD students in grades 7th, 8th, and 9th. GEAR UP is a program that develops college and career readiness.
The San Marcos High School Cheerleaders announced they will be hosting a cheer camp for all interested girls and boys in grades K-8th.
The cheer camp will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on October 8 to October 10th in the SAC Gym. Registration costs $40, which includes T-Shirt and Megaphone on the last day of camp.
Jr. Rattler Cheerleaders will spirit with SMHS cheerleaders at the game kickoff and perform with them during the 3rd Quarter of October 11, home game.

San Marcos CISD partnered with Texas State University to host the Hill Country College Fair yesterday from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at San Marcos High School.
Students and parents are invited to attend.
The Partners Resource Network hosted is hosting a special education conference for Spanish-speaking families September 28.

The San Marcos Community was treated to a magical tea party that included delicious snacks, terrific performances, and a room full of smiling faces. The 5th Annual Royal Tea Party, hosted by the San Marcos High School Choir on September 21, included student performances from an array of Disney favorites such as Moana, Frozen, and Coco, just to name a few.
San Marcos CISD would like to the thank the SMHS Choir, choir directors Dawn Sheridan-Reinhuber, Brigitte Smith, and the SMHS choir parents for all their efforts in hosting a memorable event for the families of SMCISD.
San Marcos High School Cafeteria is officially the Tomas Cuevas Jr. Dining Hall! San Marcos CISD hosted a dedication ceremony to honor the late Tomas Cuevas Jr. for his service to SMCISD students, staff, and community. Cuevas, a self-taught businessman and entrepreneur, was a man of the community who was always ready to help and provide produce to SMCISD families.
The San Marcos Education Foundation (SMEF) hosted their 6th Annual Skeet Shoot on Friday, September 20. The annual event raises money for San Marcos CISD students and staff. Last year, the event raised more than $30,000 that all went back to fund programs in the district.
SMEF sponsors and supports a variety of programs for SMCISD such as the Teacher of the Year program, Innovative Teacher Grants, Distinguished Alumni, Green Fashion Show and much more. Visit their website, http://www.smeducationfoundation.org/, to learn more.
San Marcos CISD is excited to offer upgraded libraries and new flex spaces at elementary campuses across the district thanks to Bond 2017. This week, we went by Bowie Elementary to see how students were enjoying the new space.
San Marcos CISD School Safety/Transportation Director Doug Wozniak teamed up with the San Marcos Police Department and a local martial arts group to host a school safety training for district staff. The district will continue to be proactive in providing safety training for students, staff and families.
The district will host a parent safety meeting on October 10 at San Marcos HS scheduled for 5 PM. All SMCISD parents are invited to attend.
Staff members from Crockett Elementary spent their Friday night in the community interacting with families at the PODER Learning Community. Students and families were able to enjoy food, a great storytelling experience, a group dance, and a fun-filled night.
