In an effort to recognize local businesses, the San Marcos Main Street Program is introducing the Downtown Business of the Month award.

For the month of April, Main Street is awarding the first official Downtown Business of the Month award to the San Marcos Hair Company for their many contributions to both Downtown San Marcos and the local community.

San Marcos Hair Company has been in business for over 32 years and is currently owned by Janaa Crystal, an employee who purchased the company and moved it to its current location on North LBJ.

The San Marcos Hair Company is an active supporter of San Marcos High School and is especially involved with the women’s athletic organizations.

“The company is highly involved Downtown, participating and going above and beyond for various Main Street Events such as the Wine Walk,” said Samantha Armbruster, Main Street Program Manager. “For all of the above listed reasons, Main Street is proud to award the San Marcos Hair Company with Business of the Month for April.”

Each month, Main Street will celebrate a downtown business that exemplifies the following eight criteria: growth, staying power, innovation, response to adversity, contribution to community-oriented projects, marketing & promotional efforts, curb appeal, and beautification.

If you know of a business within the Downtown San Marcos area which fulfills the above criteria and is worthy of this award, please contact Main Street to register your nomination at 512.393.8430 or mainstreet@sanmarcostx.gov.
