SAN MARCOS — On the evening of Friday, June 10, 2022, officers from the San Marcos Police Department (SMPD) were dispatched to 1330 Aquarena Springs Dr. in reference to a bomb threat. According to a spokesperson for the City of San Marcos, a 911 caller reported a male acting erratically and running in and out of a store with a suitcase he claimed was a bomb.
The suspect, identified as 63-year-old Peter Brett Clark placed the suitcase in front of a dumpster just outside the business and left on foot towards I-35 on Aquarena Springs. SMPD officers then evacuated Stadium Plaza, notified the Texas State University Police Department (UPD) and blocked nearby traffic.
According to a city spokesperson, the Austin Police Department (APD) Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit (EOD) was requested to respond to the scene. At approximately 8:19 p.m. the APD EOD rendered the suitcase clear and found nothing suspicious inside the suitcase.
The suspect Peter Brett Clark was located in the 1500 block of Aquarena Springs Dr. and placed under arrest for Hoax Bomb and the Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was released from the Hays County Jail on a bond of $2,500 on Saturday.
