Man Fatally Shot In Buda Family Dispute

On 11/21/2020 at approximately 4:15 pm, Hays County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a family violence disturbance call at the 200 block of Shale Circle in Buda, Texas.

Responding deputies arrived and found a deceased male in the living room. Witnesses told deputies that the victim, identified as Darrell Thierry, 65 years of age, had an argument with his son, Damien Montague Roberts, 42 years of age. Both were visiting from out of town.

During the argument, Roberts struck Thierry unconscious. Roberts then went to a bedroom where he retrieved a handgun. Roberts returned and shot Thierry multiple times.

Deputies were able to locate and detain Roberts at the residence. After Roberts was already in custody, he attempted to escape by trying to push through deputies to flee from custody.

After a brief struggle, he was secured and placed in the patrol unit. Roberts was transported to the Hays County jail where he was charged with first-degree murder and third-degree attempted escape from custody while confined. He was released to jail personnel and is waiting to be magistrates.
